I am humbled by the generosity of so many supporters of the Scouting Project for the Marshall County Museum. The outpouring of donations, both in significant items for the display and monies for the room have been incredible. Therefore, I am excited to tell you that in the spirit of generosity so embodied, not only has the $10,000 goal been met, it has been exceeded!
This translates into a permanent display for Scouting History of Marshall County in the new museum addition, along with monies for the creation of proper display cases for textile items and documents. The room will be established when the financial needs goal is met for the expansion project. Presently the Museum is in need of $800,000 to reach the financial goal. If you have not yet given to the Scouting project, the opportunity to give is still there, and will be used appropriately for the Scouting room.
In recognition of the 95th Anniversary of Boy Scouting and the 75th Anniversary of Cub Scouting, there is a temporary display now on the main floor of the museum showing a preview of some of the items that will be in the permanent Scout room. I hope you will be able to stop by to visit and write comments or suggestions in the display registry.
Through your support, I am continually inspired to work on the collection of items for display. The rustic Boy Scout campground, Rice Woods, located near Grovertown, will feature on the Lodge information Board a map to the museum and a quick summary of what the display is about. Many Scout youth have already indicated a desire to see the finished collection and this hands-on display of the legacy of Marshall County Scout history will not go unappreciated.
Again, I thank you for believing and supporting this project.
Sincerely,
Clarence Shively Scout Historian
